TEXAS DEATH ROW – GERALD MARSHALL– SOUNDS OF A-SECTION

By Gerald Marshall

Listen
Tears fall, in the midst
Of dry heaves.
Footsteps scuffle
Around the moving light
That pierces the door creases
Lighting up the tears
That fall
From the next man
To be executed.

This poem is about a prisoner on Texas Death Row scheduled to be executed. The light is from the guards flash light as they check on him to make sure he is not killing himself.
